Beckn: Protocol to facilitate open digital commerce

Beckn plays the same role for digital commerce just as HTTP does for World Wide 
Web and SMTP for emails. Accordingly, Beckn lets a computer “understand” and 
speak “commerce” by exchanging open, standardized, machine-readable 
information over the internet, such as selecting items on a menu, placing orders with 
other devices. 

Sujith Nair, co-founder, and CEO of Beckn Foundation said that this open innovation 
has the potential to supercharge the retail industry. Beckn has been designed to 
serve any type of interaction in a gig economy, be it commercial or non-commercial. 

The Beckn platform is designed specifically for small, individual businesses that are 
located in multiple parts of a city. Mobility businesses, restaurants, hotels, and 
healthcare providers, among others, fall into this category. 

Basis – Personal finance app for women

As India’s first app-based platform that drives women’s financial independence, 
Basis creates an informed, active market for users who might not otherwise be able 
to engage with formal financial institutions.  

This product offers curated advisory tools and recommendations tailored to the 
financial needs of urban Indian women and is driven by demand-driven financial 
education. 
This innovation wants to create a community just for women, where we can discuss 
everything that impacts our financial independence safely and candidly.  

Co-Founder and CEO Hena Mehta said that the conversations on the platform 
include topics such as relationships, careers, and starting and running businesses 
as well as choosing the right investment and insurance plans. 

To get women comfortable discussing money, they must become part of a 
community. To help them make informed decisions, it makes sense to provide them 
with information.  

The founder also added that there are vast differences between the lives of women

although there are not many resources, that take into account women’s goals and

Daily Dump – Easy and effective waste management

India (and the world) is experiencing rapid growth, and this is led to a proliferation of 
waste. To prove that this stat is more than enough that 2.2 kg of waste is generated 
every day by an Indian family of four. The majority (60%) of the waste produced is 
originated from the kitchen or the garden which can be easily recycled and used to 
produce rich manure at home.

commercial and residential use, which offer decentralized waste management 
solutions. Its products and services enable people to change their behavior and 
attitude towards the environment by offering composters and segregation products 
for compost. 

Terracotta kambhas, the company’s signature product, become a sentimental 
symbol in customer’s homes.  

Over 45,000 pounds of compost have been added to the ground due to our home 
composting solutions, Poonam explained. “We conserve more than 50 tonnes of 
organic waste per day, daily, with 75,441 happy families”.
